INTRODUCTION.

Establishment of the University of Balochistan and its Library Synchronized with the emergence of Balochistan as a province of Pakistan. The University came into being with the promulgation of the University of Balochistan Ordinance 1970.

Objectives:

To make the University’s academic programs successful by providing printed & on-Printed material to the users.
To participate in the University’s educational and research programs satisfactorily.
To provide services on demand and in anticipation to the students and faculty members.
Member Ship 
Only the Faculty Members and Students of the University of Balochistan are allowed to use the Library & Digital Library.

       Library Automation

The Directorate of Information Technology (D.I.T) of Balochistan University has created software for Library Automation in collaboration with library professionals. Up till now 50, 000 books have been processed.

d) Periodical content services.
e) Bibliographic services.

        Digital Library

Within the premises of Central Library a Digital Library was established in 2006 for the use of Faculty Members and Students. They have the access to 23000 full text Journals of International repute and 40,000 E-Books under E-brary program are also accessible. This is all due to the efforts of Higher Education Commission.

        Future Prospects.

Establishment of a Language Computer Lab.
Extension of seating capacity in Central Library.
Extension of seating capacity in Digital Library.
Efforts to complete the automation process up to 2009.
