Admission Procedure and Criteria

Master in Business Administration

The MBA Program intends to fulfill the professional needs of the corporate sector. This course is designed to equip the students with modern techniques of management with emphasis on Information Technology applications. The course prepares the students to meet the challenges created by the increasing complexity and globalization of management

ADMISSION CRITERIA

• Graduate in Arts, Science, Commerce, Business Administration, with at least 2nd division from any recognized University of Pakistan/ foreign University, having at least one of the following subjects: Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Sociology, Political Science, psychology, Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany.

• Graduates having qualified current session annual examination and annual/supplementary examination of the session proceeding current session.

• The candidate must be of age 25 or less than 25 years.

• The candidate shall have to secure 45% marks to qualify the aptitude test. Qualifying the aptitude test and appearing for the interview are compulsory for admission. If any candidate fails to appear before the admission committee for written test and interview on the fixed time and date, he/she shall not be considered for admission.

FEE PER SESSION

Payable once the academic session at time of admission along with Fee for 1st semester.

*Rs. 750/- for those who belong to other province and are not already registered with University of Balochistan, Quetta.

Miscellaneous Fee

After completion of four semesters, the student shall pay the following fees in order to repeat the course(s). 

SELF FINANCE

The candidate seeking admission on self-finance basis shall pay Rs.50,000, in addition to the above-mentioned fee at the time of admission.

Master in Business Administration (Executive)

During the last two decades, there have been revolutionary changes in the world of Business. Multiple advanced techniques have evolved to effectively deal with the recent emerging issues and problems of business management. The conceptual and theoretical corpus of management discipline has radically changed under the influence of IT management systems. The professional-development and future-career prospects demand business executives to equip themselves with the latest concepts and theories of management to enhance their professional caliber and competence. In this context, the Institute of Management Science announces the commencement of Master of Business Administration Executive Program.

The MBA Executive Program intends to respond to the needs of professional aspiring executives and senior managers in public and private sectors. The course has been designed to broaden the vision and equip executives with the relevant exposure and confidence to deal with the complex macro and micro issues confronting today’s challenging environment.

FEE STRUCTURE

FEE PER SESSION

FEE PER QUARTER                                         

Readmission fee (within seven days) : Rs. 500.00

Readmission fee (within fifteen days): Rs. 1000.00

Provisional certificate issuance fee   : Rs. 150.00

After completion of six quarters, the student shall pay the following fee in order to repeat the deficient course(s).

Tuition fee (per course) : Rs. 5000.00

Examination                 : Rs. 400.00

MASTER IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION (MPA) ADMISSION CRITERIA

The candidates seeking admission to MPA Program must meet the following eligibility criteria.

• Graduates holding any one of the following degree:

• B.A/ B.Sc/ B.Com/ BPA/ BBA/ BCS/ BIT/ BBIT from any recognized University of Pakistan/Foreign University.

• Graduates having qualified current session annual examination and annual/supplementary examination of the session preceding current session.

• The candidate shall have to secure 40% marks to qualify the aptitude test. Qualifying the aptitude test and appearing for the interview are compulsory for admission. If any candidate fails to appear for written test and interview on the fixed time and date, he/she shall not be considered for admission.

ALLOCATIONOF SEATS

Note

1. Under category C, an admission shall not be granted to the candidate with rank on admission merit below cut-off-point by not more than 10%.

2. Under category B, an admission shall not be granted to the candidate with rank on admission merit below than cut-off-point.

3. In case the seats remain vacant under category B & C, those other than Quetta, would be counted towards open merit: Balochistan.

Admission Criteria

The candidates seeking admission to MBA Banking & Finance (Afternoon) Program on Self-Finance Basis must meet the following eligibility criteria.

1. Graduates with at least 2nd division from any recognized University of Pakistan/Foreign University.

2. The candidate shall have to secure 45% marks to qualify the admission test. Qualifying the admission test and appearing for the interview are compulsory for admission. If any candidate fails to appear before the admission committee for written test and interview on the fix time and date, he/she shall not be considered for admission.

Determination of Admission Merit

Admission merit would be determined as:

Mr. Sheraz Abbasi secured 400 marks out of 800 marks in graduation, 50 marks out of 100 marks in admission test & 7 marks out of 10 in interview. His merit will be determined as under:

*   Marks obtained in graduation X 50         Total marks of graduation

** Marks obtaining in admission test X 40    Total marks of the test

*** Marks obtaining in Interview X 10         Total marks of the Interview

NOTE

1. In case two candidates secured equal marks as per formula mentioned above, the preference would be given to the candidate having greater marks in his/her Bachelor Examination.

2. If the Bachelor Examination marks are equal, the candidate would be preferred having marks in his/her Intermediate Examination.

3. If the Intermediate marks are equal, the candidates would be preferred having greater marks in his/her matriculation examination.

 Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration

This is a six-month study program comprising two quarters. Each quarter consists of three and half months, three months for teaching and two weeks for the conduct of examination and the declaration of results. The program may be completed within the maximum period of 18 months (1-1/2 years) from the date of its registration. The program offers the package of five courses, at the discretion of the IMS. The candidate shall not be allowed to take the courses more than that offered in each quarter.

• Currently or previously employed in any public or private organization.

• The appearance for the interview on the specified date and time is compulsory. The candidate failing to appear in the interview shall not be considered for admission.

Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration

This is a ninth-month study program comprising three quarters. Each quarter consists of three and half months, three months for teaching and two weeks for the conduct of examination and the declaration of results. The program may be completed within the maximum period of 36 months (3 years) from the date of its registration. The program offers the package of ten courses, at the discretion of the IMS. The candidate shall not be allowed to take the courses more than that offered in each quarter.

• A graduate from any accredited/recognized University of Pakistan/Foreign with tleast 45% marks or A postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration from the Institute of Management Science, University of Balochistan, Quetta.

• Currently or previously employed in any public or private organization.

• Appearance for the interview on the specified date and time is compulsory. The candidate failing to appear in the interview shall not be considered for admission.
