Department of Media Studies, University of Balochistan has a campus internet-radio station, known as “FM 96.6". It is student-radio by and for the UoB community.

It comprises of an FM station operated, controlled and maintained exclusively by the students under the supervision of staff. It provides an opportunity for the students to exploit their talents in various fields via FM radio to the audience.

One of the major advantages of having such a communication media is, important information regarding various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities can be broadcasted and the students as well as the staff can tune in to the FM station, receive notices and hence information can be conveyed in a different style.

Campus Radio here is mainly designed to make use of radio, especially FM, in a more realistic and meaningful way to broadcast important on campus activities. Campus Radio introduces the new aspect of using radio for University audience as well as allows students to showcase their talents by exhibiting their skills and get encouraged. If the FM radio band (FM 96.6) is selected for the radio transmission, any contemporary mobile phones can be used for the reception of the signals.

At FM 96.6 the students host various programs on weekly basis under the supervision/guidance of seasoned faculty members who have a vast experience of broadcast journalism. Various assignments are assigned to the students for the campus radio. The faculty and students of various departmens are also invited as guests to express themselves and share their achievements and experiences.
