Programs of Study 

The Department of Brahui offers a globally unique academic portfolio designed to foster expertise in Brahui language (linguistics), literature, and cultural heritage, blending traditional scholarship with modern technological innovation. 

 1.1. BS Brahui 

       Duration: 4 Years | Credits: 130-140

       Overview: A comprehensive curriculum integrating Brahui linguistics, classical literature, folklore, and digital humanities.

 1.1.1. Bridging Semester in Brahui

        Duration: 2 Years (5 Semesters) | Credits: 60-70

        Eligibility: ADA (Associate Degree in Arts) or Intermediate (FA/FSc) with minimum 45% marks.

        Overview: A foundational program for students requiring preparatory training in Brahui language and cultural studies before transitioning to advanced degrees.

 1.2. Master of Philosophy in Brahui

       Duration: 2 Years | Credits: 30 Course work (24) Thesis-Driven (6)

       Overview: Advanced research training in Brahui philology, sociolinguistics, and comparative Dravidian studies. 

 1.3. Doctor of Philosophy in Brahui

       Duration: 3-5 Years | Dissertation-Focused

 Eligibility Criteria for Admission 

2.1. BS Brahui Studies

       Requirement: Intermediate (FA/FSc) with minimum 45% marks. 

       Additional: Proficiency in regional languages (Balochi, Sindhi, Pashto) preferred. 

2.2. Master of Philosophy in Brahui

       Requirement: BS in Brahui, (minimum 2.5 CGPA). 

       Additional: Research proposal aligned with departmental focus areas (e.g., NLP, folklore digitization). 

 2.3. Doctor of Philosophy in Brahui

       Requirement: M.Phil in Brahui or related field (minimum 3.0 CGPA). 

       Additional: Publication record and interview with departmental Admission committee (DAC).

       Established in 1992, the department has produced 7,000+ alumni shaping sectors like media (PTV, Radio Pakistan), education, and international NGOs. 

3.2  .Research Journal: Al-Burz

       Launching 2009: Named after the ancient Alburz mountain range in Iran, symbolizing Brahui's enduring cultural landscape. 

       Accreditation: Recognized in the prestigious Y Category by Pakistan's Higher Education Commission (HEC, Islamabad) in 2019, affirming its academic rigor and contribution to indigenous linguistic scholarship.

       Scope: Peer-reviewed articles on Brahui linguistics, archaeology, and AI-driven language preservation. 

3.3. Global Academic Partnerships: 

       Mentored by Prof. Masato Kobayashi (Department of Linguistics, University of Tokyo, Japan), fostering cutting-edge research on Brahui linguistics and its connections to Dravidian languages.

       Hosted researchers like Mr. Murayama ( Japan) and Mr. Shabia (Japan), fostering cross-border research on Brahui's Dravidian roots. 

3.4. Brahui Language Board (BLB)

       Founded on November 29, 2008, the BLB standardized the Brahui script and orthography, resolving decades of linguistic ambiguity.
