LABS
Computer Laboratory
A modern computer laboratory is being established with at least 30 Networked computer systems specially configured to support the specialized software required for different statistical packages, GIS and remote sensing applications for storing the large images acquired by GIS and remote sensing instruments. The laboratory will provide an environment where faculty and students work together to advance knowledge in the application of geospatial technologies in ecosystem science and natural resource management. The RS/GIS laboratory will enable the students and faculty to conduct scientific research focusing on agricultural efficiency, carbon management, ecological forecasting, invasive species and water management, make digital geospatial data readily available to a variety of constituents through web-enabled distribution tools.
Departmental Library
To increasing research output and to support the curriculum and information needs of DMDS faculty and students a departmental library will provide access to quality information resources. These resources will not only help the students in their course work but also provide appropriate literature customized to individuals needs to enhance the knowledge and understanding of the subjects of their interests.
CAREER FOR GRADUATES
Interdisciplinary and problem oriented education/training at DMDS equips the students with both academic and professional skills needed for a career in the development sector. Job opportunities for graduates of DMDS cover many areas at provincial, regional and national levels. Opportunities for the graduates may arise in the emergency services, emergency planning and response services, government agencies, local authorities, relief agencies, United Nations Organizations, national and international non-governmental organizations, department of planning and development, agriculture development, natural resource management, environmental and climate change research etc.
